Roof Stabilisation & Loft Insulation

Nail fatigue and other deterioration of fixings is a common problem in many, particularly slate, roofs. Where the fixings, used to anchor the roof covering to the structure, have deteriorated or perished, the traditional remedy would be to completely strip and re-lay the roof covering. Although this method will solve the problem of perished fixings, it can also be extremely costly, disruptive and time consuming. Using sprayed foam insulation, spray applied to the underside of the roof covering, offers an alternative remedy which will completely solve the problem of nail fatigue,

Spray foam insulation can be sprayed directly onto tile, slate, sarking felt, sarking boards, and also breathable felts. The roof does not need to be ventilated, so the roof space is warmer meaning the water pipes and tanks can’t freeze, even in extreme winters.

 Suitable for:

•Retrofit insulation / stabilization for pitched / flat roofs

•New build insulation

•Loft conversions

•Commercial buildings

Polyurethane sprayed foam insulation can be applied directly to the floor of the loft in any home, where it will provide homeowners with all the benefits of increased thermal insulation as well as increased air-tightness and sound insulation. Utilising the benefits of sprayed foam insulation in the loft, rather than traditional fibrous or blown types of insulation, will bring many benefits, including:

Excellent thermal insulation properties, Reduced draughts through the roof and loft, Increased air-tightness, reduction of unwanted air-leakage, Reduced noise from the exterior, Reduced Dust, will reduce noise

Give your roof the ultimate renovation – At a fraction of the cost of re-roofing

Sprayed Foam Boat Insulation

Sprayed foam insulation provides the ideal solution to insulate and prevent condensation in narrow boats, wide beam boats, dutch barges, cruisers and virtually any other form of marine craft. When building or fully renovating a narrow boat, one of the most important factors to consider is the insulation

As a boat’s life is generally spent sat in relatively cold water, and the boat occupants more often than not want to feel warm and comfortable inside the boat, insulation plays a key part in the overall function not only of keeping the boat warm but also preventing any condensation forming on the colder steel hull.

spray foam insulation is spray applied directly to the inside of the hull The insulation is spray applied as a liquid through machinery and equipment, once sprayed to the hull the foam will expand and ‘cure’ to form a rigid layer of insulation with no gaps or thermal bridges. Being applied as a liquid also allows the foam to get into any voids and behind any gaps in battening; this drastically reduces any thermal bridging and prevents any condensation from forming.

Typical narrow boats can be fully insulated within a few hours, no labour-intensive cutting and fixing needed, no gaps between the insulation and the surface, insulation levels can be achieved with the minimum depth of insulation, save valuable internal space, Eliminates risk of condensation, leaves no thermal bridges

Comfortable levels of insulation can be achieved with only around 1 inch of spray foam insulation.

Solid and Timber Frame Wall Insulation

When it comes to insulating the walls of a property, whether they are solid or timber framed, many people adopt a traditional approach whereby insulation is purely used to achieve a theoretical target -- generally the required ‘U’ value. While this approach is fine in principal, and will satisfy Building Control with regards insulation values, using insulation in this way sometimes does not take into account several factors: Ageing factors of different materials, Long-term values of the insulation, Difficulty in installation/fitting -- especially around complex areas and services, Air-leakage By looking at the insulation of walls using a ‘building life’ approach, many homeowners are now utilizing the benefits of insulation products which will not only meet regulatory values now but will provide greater benefits throughout the whole life of the building. By adopting this approach, the added short-term cost of installing superior insulation products is far outweighed by the long-term benefits and comfort of the homeowners

Investing in Sprayed Insulation

many architects, and contractors will often stick to traditional methods to meet ever increasing thermal insulation requirements. However, in our experience where people are building their own homes, or where architects are tasked with finding the best insulation available rather than the cheapest,  sprayed insulation is being recognized and utilized more and more. By investing in sprayed insulation, homeowners are finding many benefits, including:

Vastly reduced unwanted air-leakage and draughts, Greater energy-efficiency throughout the life of the building, No sagging or settling of the insulation which can cause cold-spots, Even difficult areas are insulated to the same high standards, Improved indoor air quality, Reduction of noise from outside and services

Condensation Prevention with Sprayed Foam Insulation

Condensation prevention is one of the most widely used applications for sprayed foam insulation. Sprayed foam insulation is used to prevent condensation in buildings and even on boats, motorhomes, Metal roofs and walls, Asbestos/Fibre-cement roofs and walls, Storage facilities, Containers, Warehouses, As well as a host of other building applications Many metal and asbestos/fibre cement roofs suffer from condensation problems particularly during the colder months, this is especially the case where the metal is only ‘single skin’ Spray foam can solve these problems quickly and easily, with the minimum of mess and disruption for you. The foam is spray applied directly to the surface which provides a complete layer of insulation, even on profile sheets and behind metal trusses As the foam is spray applied it will provide a monolithic layer of thermal insulation which is adhered directly to the surface of the substrate, rather than using boards or quilts which inherently have distance between the insulation and the substrate when used on profiled sheeting.

Under floor spray foam Insulation

Under floor spray foam Insulation Spray Foam insulation is the ideal solution for suspended timber floors and will eliminate cold floors, drafts etc and will lead to a dramatic improvement in thermal comfort and energy saving. spray foam insulation is sprayed directly onto the underneath of timber floors and keeps cold floors and draughts at bay

A home with timber floors when sprayed with foam insulation, is substantially warmer in winter and cooler in summer. Energy bills become cheaper. sprayed foam  insulation  will not only reduce household energy consumption, and save you money but will also reduce carbon emissions to help improve our environment. WARMER FLOORS = COSY HOME!

DIFFERENT TYPES OF SPRAY FOAM INSULATION

Closed cell spray foam Closed cell spray foam is among the most efficient insulating materials commercially available with a typical U-value of about 0.16 W/m2K Closed-cell foam incorporates an insulating gas that is retained within the cells which leads to the highly efficient insulating properties, closed-cell foam provides  a highly effective air barrier, low moisture vapour permeability, and excellent resistance to water Closed-cell foam  can help support the structure of the property, Closed-cell foams are usually characterized by their rigidity and strength, in addition to the better U-Value closed cell spray foam offers a higher thermal resistance, impact resistance, and a hard, rigid texture Closed-cell spray foam insulation systems, when properly installed, deliver energy savings of up to 45%. Closed-cell spray foam is a continuous spray foam that is fast to apply and quick to cure, leaving a minimal amount of surface area without insulation. The result is an airtight building envelope of low permeability, without the need for supplementary material The solid nature and sealing capability of closed-cell spray foam, inhibits moisture-driven elements. Two inches of closed-cell spray polyurethane foam insulation will minimize air infiltration, exfiltration, convection, conduction and control solar driven moisture in the building envelope

Recommended Product Applications

Walls,  Attics,  Floors,  Crawl Spaces,  Ceilings,  Vaulted or Cathedral Ceilings

Open cell spray foam Open cell spray foam is less dense than closed cell spray foam so it will not help strengthen the structure of the building Open cell insulation is light flexible and adheres to a breathable membrane situated in-between your roof  with air tight seal, and therefore accommodates a building’s normal structural movement and shifting over time Open cell foams offer a better acoustic insulation having about twice the sound resistance in normal frequency ranges as closed-cell foam and is a more cost effective product to use in exterior wall applications where it will be out of the weather, The typical U-value of open cell spray foam is about 0.35 W/m2K Open-cell spray foam insulation is a spray-applied, half pound density, non-structural, thermal insulation material used in wall cavities, floor assemblies, ceiling assemblies and in attic applications. Open-cell foam insulation is a performance upgrade over conventional insulation that leads to energy efficiency, improved occupant comfort, a cleaner indoor environment and greater noise reduction for building/home owners. Open cell foam insulation is primarily used to insulate timber frame walls, suspended timber floors and any timber roof with the appropriate covering in residential and commercial building application.
